Libraries offering Scopus training during Research Week

In conjunction with West Virginia University’s inaugural Research Week, WVU Libraries will offer multiple workshops to help students and faculty take full advantage of Scopus, a popular scholarly search tool.
Currently the largest curated abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature, Scopus includes the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities. It can be accessed on the Libraries website.
Sessions are scheduled at all three Morgantown campus. On each day there will be an overview session that includes lunch.
Evansdale Library – April 1
Scopus Overview and Pizza Lunch
Room 130, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
This workshop for graduate, undergraduate, and postdoc students will cover the essentials of Scopus with an overview of searching, author profiles, and reference management. Lunch will be provided. Click here to register.
Campus Researcher Scopus Training
Room G16, 2-3 p.m.
This workshop will cover setting up Scopus to receive publication information, managing your scholarly profile, integration with ORCID, how to find new collaborators or potential labs to continue research career. It is aimed at anyone interested in research at the Evansdale Campus (Faculty, Grads, Undergrads, PostDocs, Technicians, etc.). Click here to register.

Scopus API Training
Room 136, 11 a.m.-noon
This workshop covers how to register for an API key, how Scopus’ API works, differences between retrieval and search, and how to use APIs with Python to fetch results related to West Virginia University. Click here to register.

Mendeley Interoperability with Scopus
Room LC-3, 11 a.m.-noon
This workshop will cover how to utilize Scopus with the citation management program Mendeley, along with additional reference managers. It will also cover how to operate the Mendeley Analytics Dashboard and its use in research work flow. Click here to register.
