Though WVU Libraries will be closed on July 4th, we can start celebrating Independence Day early with these photos of Fourth of July parades across West Virginia.

1910:  Fourth of July Parade, Kingwood, Preston County, W. Va. Can you identify the uniforms of the riders in this photo?  Let us know!

1918:  Blacks in Fourth of July Parade, Wheeling, W. Va. This photo was taken just over four months before the end of World War I.

1946:  Fourth of July Parade, Huntington, W. Va. This float is reminiscent of the famous photograph Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima.
